Lelo Billy

Billy is an anal vibrator and prostate massager from Swedish Lelo. It has not yet been updated like its female counterparts – is this 6-year-old champion still in the game?

The vibrator is one nice piece of sex tech, I’ll tell you that. It is made of glossy white abs plastic and seamless matte silicone. It sports a flared base and a vibrating motor in the tip. I have no complaints about the quality. It is sturdy and the silicone is very silky. It is also incredibly light and almost feels hollow, but it’s not flexible at all. It is 7.5″1(9cm) in length, and 3.5″ (9cm) in girth at most and 3.1″ (8cm) minimum. Insertable length is 4.1″ (10.5cm) and it weighs just 80g.

It feels very nice to use. As it is not girthy and has a rounded gently tapering tip and shaft, insertion is incredibly easy and the smooth silicone feels very nice as it glides into place. It is free of friction and drag. It is not at all intrusive feeling and does not stretch or feel overly filling and the flared base makes it very safe to use. Perfect for those wanting pure prostate stimulation without other stimuli.

Without the vibrations it is good for mild prostate stimulation by applying some pressure to the end. The handle is big and sturdy enough to make this an easy task. But as it is very light, it is very gentle.

With the vibrations on it sure packs more of a punch. I’d still classify it as a gentle vibrator as it does not even come close to challenging the likes of L’amourose Rosa. It feels nice and not overpowering. It is just right for a relaxed and pleasant experience. The vibrations are medium deep and rumbly and are definitely not superficial like the Tantus Prostate Play. The more I think about it, the more fitting “gentle and pleasant” becomes. This makes Billy such a great prostate massager. It’s not too much for anyone and it ticks most of the boxes for a great beginner prostate toy. Except maybe the price. Noise is usually proportional with the vibration intensity and this is no exception. Billy is on the quiet side and I admit it is nice.

Features include seven different speeds, slow/fast pulses and a slow wave pattern. Each is adjustable in intensity, but they all feel very basic and I would like a bit more variation. I would prefer a bit more power, but the pulses feel rather nice and penetrating on max.

The controls are very simple with a plus and minus button for intensity and up and down for patterns. The buttons light up when pressed and it also has a travel lock controlled by holding plus and minus for a few seconds until the light turns on/off.

It charges through a hidden port underneath the logo flap. A few hours of charging gives you up to 4 hours use, which is pretty good. It also hold its charge fairly well when not in use. One thing to note is that Lelo Billy is only splash-proof and not submersible even for cleaning. However as long as the logo flap is in place, it seems fine cleaning it with some water. I just focus on the silicone part and give the handle a quick rinse and spray everything with toy cleaner. It works just fine.

Included in the gorgeous packaging is a sturdy storage box in black cardboard, a satin storage pouch, a sample of Lelo’s personal lubricant, a charger/wall adapter and a warranty registration card. Billy has a 1 year warranty and 10 years quality guarantee, which is pretty great.

Lelo Billy overall

I really enjoyed my time with the Lelo Billy. It is a straight forward, high quality prostate massager that is both gentle and not at all intimidating. It is rechargeable and has some nice deep vibrations, although not the most powerful in that aspect. It does show its age quite a bit when compared to the latest offerings from Lelo. After all Lelo Billy launched way back in 2009 (September).

The charging flap is fiddly and feels unnecessary (but I guess it is good in keeping the dust away) and the lack of more interesting patterns and waterproofing is what drags it down slightly. By all means it is still a great product, but the competition gets ever fiercer while Billy has remained the same. It is still unique for the fact that it is such a small and compact product, but still offers the premium you’d expect from a luxury sex toy.

Lelo Billy definitely has a place in the market, even today. I think it would be perfect for people starting out or someone who just want a simple and straight forward product. Lelo Billy is just a perfect gentleman in that regard. However if you need very strong vibrations and more stimulation you should look elsewhere.

It is available in this gorgeous royal blue and a wine red color at Lelo, Lovehoney UK (worldwide) and Hot Stuff (EU).

A great prostate massager overall, but I would like to see a bit more variation and a wider range of intensities. Also it should be waterproof and we could do without the flap over the charging port.
